As long as I can remember I’ve wanted a library in my home. Not just a packed bookcase like I have in my living room and bedroom, but a real library: four walls covered with shelves reaching from floor to ceiling, with an attached ladder so I can reach the books all the way at the top. I imagine a seated bay window and a burgundy leather lounge chair, so I always have a choice of where to sit. Besides books, there would also be an outlet for a kettle so I can make tea without having to leave the room.
Recently, I came across a quote by Jorge Luis Borges:
I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
I guess that’s it. I want a little bit of Paradise in my home. Until I have space for a library, I’ll just enjoy my bookcases.
